This majestic grade II Georgian Country Hotel was built in 1837 on the original foundations of The Bishop’s Palace, dating back to the 13th century, and boasts many famous visitors including Queen Victoria and Charles Dickens, who planned his Celebrated American Book Reading Tour whilst staying here.

The spectacular Barrett’s Restaurant, Riverside Bar and terrace, with the most amazing views, offer seasonal menus, with a wide selection of modern and traditional British favourites, from hearty main courses to lighter snacks, complimented by a selection of real ales, carefully selected wines, speciality teas and coffees.
